Axbridge Railway Station

This is a short portfolio photo project on Axbridge Railway Station circa 1869 – which was ‘axed in 1963 – and is now along side the Axbridge[Bridge over the River Axe] bypass road – which itself is along side the old railway ‘Strawberry Line’. This now sees the old Station Master’s house, as it once was, on the opposite side of the main road.

Of course, the alternative method of transporting local quarried Mendip Hills products is by road haulage; as is witnessed in the last photo of this series.
